OCIA: Order of Christian Initation
(formerly RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
Adults
The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process by which adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church through a journey of faith formation, study, prayer, and participation in the liturgical life of the Church. A group of interested adults engage in conversation, ask questions, discuss issues, break open the Word, and learn about the Catholic Church’s history, symbols, and beliefs. They then fully enter into the period of enlightenment as they prepare for their initiation into the church during the Easter Vigil. If you are interested in joining OCIA, or know someone who might be, please contact the church office at 704-825-9600 or email secretary@queenoftheapostles.org.
Children
OCIC is a process for children who are unbaptized preparing them to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Preparation is designed to fit the needs of the family and will allow the children to be fully initiated in the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil along with the OCIA participants. For help in discerning if this program is for your child, please contact Chrissy with any questions at parishops@queenoftheapostles.org.
